EDUCATION & TRAINING
NCGPT education and training focuses on supporting registrars in their transition from hospital based medicine to independent General Practice by providing them with a high quality, innovative, integrated education program.
Participation in the NCGPT Education and Training program equips registrars to pass the FRACGP exam.
The NCGPT Education and Training program reflects our goal in providing registrars with a total quality experience. For this reason, all NCGPT educational events are delivered face-to-face.
Program Structure
The NCGPT Education and Training program is structured at 3 levels:
- Teaching within the practice
- Locally delivered educational events throughout the region
- Combined workshops in Sydney
Training Team
NCGPT has a training team consisting of the Director of Training and 7 medical educators. All are experienced GPs. Our training team is complemented by over 60 accredited supervisors throughout the region.
Educational Activities
NCGPT offers a range of activities to registrars during their training. Educational activities are delivered at 3 sites throughout the region - Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast and Hastings Macleay.
NCGPT has developed a supervisor and registrar educational calendar to allow you to see your training activities at a glance. The educational calendars also provide other important information.
Aboriginal Health Training
Aboriginal health is a national and regional health priority. There are 4 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) in the NCGPT region offering registrars the opportunity for a rewarding cultural experience. Good supervision ensures that the registrar feels well supported. The registrar is considered a highly valued member of the team and is generously welcomed by the community. The work is extremely satisfying both medically and personally. For further information see Aborigninal Health or speak to your medical educator or contact the NCGPT office on T: 02 6681 5711.
