The Awards


NCGPT and its registrars are the proud recipient of a string of awards.

2009 National Rural Faculty General Practice Registrar of the Year
Dr Sarah-Jane McEwan was nominated by her peers for this award because of her passionate commitment to rural general practice and her enthusiasm in completing the most comprehensive training and preparation program imaginable. In addition to her core GP training, she has completed a sexual health and family planning Australia certificate, diplomas in obstetrics and gynaecology, a sexual assault management course and a diploma of child health. She has also completed courses in early management of severe trauma, neonatal resuscitation, foetal monitoring, nutritional and environmental medicine and rural emergency workshops.

2008 NCGPT registrar Susan Yeung scores highest RACGP exam score in Australia
For this outstanding accomplishment Susan was awarded, by the RACGP, the MO Kent-Hughes Memorial and Tony Buhagiar Memorial Medals.

2008 GPET/Medical Observer GP Registrar of the Year Award
In 2008 Tim Francis, NCGPT’s Registrar Liaison Officer at the time, won this prestigious award for his dedication and tireless campaigning for general practice as a meaningful and fulfilling career path. Tim is now a medical educator for NCGPT and an extraordinary asset to our organisation and to general practice.

2006 Winner of the Regional Training Provider Innovation Award
NCGPT won this award for two innovative events.  

1.  'Beyond the Medical Record: Creative Writing for Doctors' which represented an innovative approach to the development of general practice education through the exploration of the role of creative writing and stories as a way of improving communication skills and wellbeing of GPs.

2.  'Taking Heart: A New Quest for Medical Humanities' was a two and a half day conference developed to find the
balance between the science and humanity in health care.

2004 Winner of the GPET Regional Training Provider of the Year Award
NCGPT won this award for its holistic approach, professional and personal support offered to registrars taking the form of: face to face teaching, in-practice teaching (eg, External Clinical Training Visits - observation by a supervisor in a patient consultation), and on a more personal level, a welcome pack for all new registrars when they arrive in the area.

2004 Winner GP Training Curriculum Innovation Award
NCGPT won this award for the The Teacher Incentive Payments™ (TIP™) program. 

Developed in 2003 by Dr Hilton Koppe to encourage and reward supervisors who provided the most valued educational activities for registrars.

2004 Staff Excellence Award
Awarded to current Communications Manager, Cindy Venables for her outstanding skills in marketing, public relations, graphic design and event management.
