After a decade of general practice in the Noosa hinterland, Genevieve made the move south to the equally idyllic North Coast, bringing with her several years of medical educator experience. She worked for CSQTC as the Sunshine Coast node coordinator from 2005 to 2011, is a medico-legal presenter for MIPS and has conducted education sessions for doctors all over Australia. In 2010 she was awarded the "Arts and Health Australia Awards for Excellence: Medical Humanities and Education award".
In her spare time she likes to indulge in a range of creative pursuits. Genevieve is a regular Australian Doctor "Last Word" columnist, has had several short stories and a play published, a short film produced and four plays staged. Her first novel, 'Silver Linings', was published in 2011. She's worked in film and TV, performed on stage in plays, musicals and stand-up comedy, and also teaches violin, plays piano, sings, and plays in two orchestras.

Genevieve is passionate about putting creativity into medicine, and medicine into creativity. She uses film, theatre and music in her teaching of GP registrars and supervisors, and also finds that medicine inspires and complements her writing, and vice versa.

A girl who can't sit still, Genevieve burns her extra energy by cycling to work each day and battling the surf on weekends. To her Mum's relief, these activities are much more sedate than her previous ones, which included galloping around cross country courses on horseback, wielding a chainsaw and contracting a zoonotic infection from delivering lambs while participating in a reality TV show. But she's still just a little bit crazy!
