Dr Thea van de Mortel

Prior to becoming an RN, I had tried my hand at house cleaning, car detailing and running a shoe repair business. In the mid 80’s I gave it all up to cycle 7000 km through 8 European countries despite the weather from hell. Unfortunately you can’t do a lifetime’s exercise in 7 months and then never exercise again!

 

Following a decade in ICU at in Wollongong, I escaped to the north coast, exchanging (pardon the pun)  the needles and syringes in my front yard and the incessant drone of cars, with a view of the Nightcap range (and the occasional koala) and birdsong. I have spent 17 years teaching science in two universities, worked my way through a Masters and PhD, while researching in some widely disparate fields such as anuran physiology, infection control, and teaching and learning. In my spare time I am a gardening freak and Sci Fi fan.
