Helena qualified as MBBS in Adelaide in 1975. She headed straight out after graduation to Rockhampton in Queensland and fascinating places like Emerald and Ruby to really get some medical training.

While she returned to the city for further training in Obstetrics and Paediatrics, then procedural General Practice, "Life was easier thirty years ago"; the lure of the country was never forgotten.

In 1995, Helena settled in Coffs Harbour, initially as the Director of Clinical Services at the Base Hospital with the idea of assisting clinical staff to achieve their full potential. (Admin speak for trying to cut the red tape!) As the tape got thicker and the scissors more blunt she looked for a sea change and turned her head back to clinical work as well as education.

Helena has been employed as an educator for the last three years. Firstly as the Campus Coordinator for UNSW - School of Rural Health and then Medical Educator with NCGPT.

Helena is also a Senior Lecturer with the University of NSW School of Rural Health and continues to practice clinically in Women's Health in Coffs Harbour.

Helena lives on a small property to the south of Coffs Harbour using her finely honed slashing skills on the giant Parramatta grass and watching endless sunsets over the ranges.
