Neil grew up in Melbourne, where he qualified as a secondary school teacher. After teaching in rural Victoria for ten years, he and his family moved back to Melbourne, where he taught in government schools for a number of years.

Since then, Neil has had a number of varied career changes.

The first of these changes was to become Academic Registrar at the Ambulance Officers' Training Centre in Melbourne. This was a position that he really enjoyed, but unfortunately the centre was closed down by the Kennett Government.

Other career moves involved time as Executive Officer of the Australian Jersey Breeders Society (quite a change from ambulance!), and Student Manager at the Southern School of Natural Therapies in Melbourne.

Unexpectedly, the opportunity arose to go into partnership with his brother, so Neil moved to Ballina, where he ran an electrical retail shop. The lure of the Northern Rivers was too hard to resist.

Following the sale of this shop, Neil joined NCGPT in November 2006.

As NCGPT’s Education Officer, Neil is enjoying his work as part of the ME team.”

Neil loves to play golf, gardening, particularly growing bush foods (but definitely not weeding) and is studying for a Master of Education which he is due to finish this year.
