The Support

Supporting our registrars is NCGPT’s number one priority which is why we have Sue Gramza, our dedicated Registrar Support Officer.

Watch the video testimonial, opposite, to hear our registrars' experience of NCGPT's outstanding support.

We're glad we have Sue and so are our registrars. She will ensure that your transition to life on the North Coast is smooth and easy, and, once you’re on our program, she is only a call away to help you, no matter what your issue; from finding accommodation for you and your family and schools for your kids to helping you get your phone connected!

"Sue is always just a phone call away and is very approachable which is so important" NCGPT registrar 2008

As well as delivering a contemporary, high quality training program, our medical education team aims to provide you with the professional and personal support and guidance you need.  NCGPT medical educators conduct a range of educational activities and regularly give feedback on your progress. In your Basic and Advanced terms (GPT1 and GPT2) you will receive two face-to-face External Clinical Teaching Visits (ECTV) per term and regular Training Appraisals (TA) to help support and guide you through your training.

Registrar wellbeing is at the core of our program based on our belief that a happy registrar makes an outstanding doctor, so we make sure that every aspect of your experience with us is stimulating, supportive and interesting with a bit of fun along the way.

Our valued Registrar Liaison Officers, George Forgan-Smith and Katherine Dent are on hand to support our registrars, providing:

  • A sounding board for any issues (personal and professional),
  • Information regarding contracts, minimum terms and conditions, negotiations etc,
  • Advice based on their own experience,
  • National GP news and updates,
  • Updates on any changes in the field e.g. the full costs and uncoupling of the exams.

We also offer a range of financial assistance to help you settle in on the North Coast including reimbursements for relocation, internet, and travel expenses.

At times you may need a flexible approach to your training which is why we offer part time training if you need it.

North Coast GP Training also employs a full time Communications Manager whose job it is to ensure that you, as registrars are regularly updated with relevant news.  NCGPT's monthly newsletter, The North Coast Post, goes out to all our registrars giving updates, reminders of upcoming educational events as well as showcasing the budding writers in our midst, who write a feature article for us.
