This area is known as the Rainbow Region. It is a playground for water activities including whale watching, adrenalin sports, colourful markets and people, arts and alternative food. It has wide open spaces and vast vistas. It is a surfing mecca with hundreds of kilometres of beaches and the famous right hand surfing break at Lennox Head Point.
Daytime temperatures range from 25-30C in summer, to 17C - 23C in winter. Temperatures tend be slightly more extreme away from the coast. Frost is unknown right on the coast but can occur on the river flats and towards the Great Divide.
